Assistant Pond Officer

Abigail Dent

Abigail earned a BSc in Biology from the University of Bristol in 2019, followed by an MSc in Aquatic Conservation, Ecology and Restoration from University College London in 2021. Her postgraduate research explored the impact of urbanisation on freshwater streams, with a specific focus on microplastic pollution. Her work provided the first published evidence of microplastic contamination in invasive crayfish across Europe, which has since contributed to vital discussions on ecosystem sustainability throughout the continent.

Before joining Norfolk FWAG, Abigail gained valuable experience with organisations such as the University of Oxford and the Center for International Forestry Research. Her passion for ponds was found during her involvement in pond monitoring fieldwork in North Norfolk, following restoration efforts by the Norfolk Ponds Project. She is dedicated to the belief that now is a crucial moment to support the creation, restoration, and management of ponds, aiming to position Norfolk as a leader in pond conservation.

In her spare time, Abigail spends time with her family and her dachshund, Rocky, who loves a stroll on the beach. When she can, Abigail loves to scuba dive.
