Supporting Farmers and Inspiring the Next Generation

The Royal Norfolk Show is the UK’s largest two-day agricultural event, attracting thousands of visitors to celebrate Norfolk’s rural heritage, farming, food, and environmental work. This year, Norfolk FWAG (Farming & Wildlife Advisory Group) was proud to take part once again, connecting with farmers, local businesses, and families from across the region.

Supporting Norfolk’s Farming Community

Our first stand focused on providing tailored support to Norfolk farmers, offering information on FWAG membership, agri-environment schemes, and updates on our ongoing conservation projects across the county. It was a great opportunity to talk directly with land managers and highlight how we’re helping farms improve biodiversity, access funding, and build more sustainable practices.

Hands-On Learning in the Discovery Zone

Our second stand, located in the Agri-Science Tent within the Discovery Zone, offered a more interactive and educational experience aimed at children and families. The theme? The power of ponds.

Visitors explored the vital role that ponds — whether in back gardens or on Norfolk farmland — play in supporting local ecosystems. A live “mini pond,” created using water from the showground, captured imaginations of all ages. Packed with freshwater invertebrates such as water boatmen, great diving beetles, sticklebacks, damselfly larvae, and dragonfly nymphs, it demonstrated how ponds can support rich biodiversity and improve water quality.

The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, especially from local schools. Children were captivated by the creatures and left with a better understanding of the importance of ponds for wildlife conservation and the wider natural environment.

Celebrating Environmental Excellence

We’d also like to congratulate our Harper Adams placement student, Tom Ewin, who received the Bishop of Norwich Sustainable Environment Young Employee of the Year Award – a brilliant achievement and well-deserved recognition of his commitment to sustainability and conservation.

Looking Ahead

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who visited our stands at the Royal Norfolk Show 2025. We’re grateful for the support from our local farming community, educators, and families who share our passion for Norfolk’s countryside. We look forward to seeing you again in 2026.
